I bet almost everyone has seen or heard of the new project that is going to be built right on the main beach Grand Bend This will keep bringing in revenue to the little town.I’m very happy. I’m sure everyone who lives here or who owns a cottage in Grand Bend know how loud and noisy it can get in the summer time. If it weren’t for the people who own cottages that rent them out in the summer time we would really have a problem on our hands with people parking and sleeping everywhere.The owners also give jobs to people. I being one of them.I would really like to see the jobs being given to the local people of Grand Bend and area on this new project but that doesn’t seem to be the case this disappoints me allot.

All the kids are back in school and most of the visitors of Grand Bend have gone.The little town is almost empty.As i made my way to the bank i was a bit early so as i waited outside for 10 minutes and not to my surprise i counted 4 cars that parked in the handicapped parking space. I just shock my head and wondered is this ever going to stop.The law was enforced in this town of what 1000 people not hard for police officers to take care of.I have to ask why do people park there why? Because nothing is being done to stop them.No respect for the people who really need to use them spaces.I ask my self why does this really bug me I don’t use the spaces i don’t know anyone who is in a wheel chair.I really can’t answer that.The people who abuse and use the handicap spaces How would you like it if i were to park in your drive way and made you walk down the street to your house.You would be upset at me wouldn’t you.So why is it that you people who park in there space thinks it’s ok.Oh ya i’m only going to be a minute. One we have all heard i only live down the street i’m ok to drive drunk.I do love the law that reads handicap parking only.why make it a law if police are not going to enforce it.I was upset last year when i needed the help of the Grand Bend police went to there downtown location in the winter time when the town was dead taped on the door and a female officer looked at me and pointed to the phone out side i know the phone didn’t work and tried to tell her that she just looked at me like to say i don’t have time and don’t care to talk to you.She walked away left me standing there.I thought what would it of taken her to come to the door to see what i wanted.There could have been a police officer shot laying on the ground and i was going for help.I guess it just shows me they don’t care.But i think not all police officers are bad just like not all people don’t park in the handicap spaces.

I just like to comment on this life guard issue because it just goes to prove that Grand Bend life guards are doing a wonderful job.I do feel for the family’s who have lost people due to drowning.You could sit down day after day to try to figure out how to improve the safety of people. If parents could be there every minute of the day to protect there children they would be but as we all know that is not possible.People need to take responsibility for there own action. Leaving life rings on the beach after hours is not the right thing to do because people who come to Grand Bend only have one thing on there mind drinking and having a good time. They have little respect for peoples properties they steal things just for the fun of it.If there is no life guard on duty then it’s up to you to decide weather you want to take the chance to go in the water.We can’t expect life guards to be on duty 24-7

Thank you for your poem. Unfortunately, the red flag was not waving that evening. It was taken down by the lifeguards when they went off duty at 6pm. Jule Marie got to the beach after that and went swimming at 7:00. She had drowned by 7:45. Richard Kovar

We understand the need to ask for subscriptions to the Strip, even though it wasn’t your original intent. And we’re happy to subscribe to your outstanding paper. The Strip’s content, writing and presentation are head and shoulders above any other local publication. Case in point: what other editor could get his mother to pose for a photo shoot donning only her son’s paper?

Don’t blame you a bit…..I or should I say “we” ( Thames Financial Group& Thames Insurance) look forward to its arrival. I had never even heard of this paper as I live in Hensall, until sometime last year. Read it front to back (absolutely loved it) Recognized your Mom, so mentioned it to her the next time I saw her and told her how I really enjoyed reading it (she is pretty funny) and to my amazement she faithfully drops 3 copies into our office. Now that is service!! Now,because of that, you will have a couple of us sign up for sure. This is an interesting, informative paper and I look forward to Advice from mom, as it usually gives me a laugh. Wishing you much success Casey!!!

A good video of the elusive cat would help. Additional proof is in DNA. Since scat is hard to come by, some catnip on a wire brush nailed to a tree should snare a few hairs for MNR detectives.

A little background about me. I was born in Windsor, where I lived for 36 years. We moved to Michigan in 1991. I have continued to watch the local news and keep track of what was going on in my native country.
I watched and listened as the healthcare in Canada declined. It appears now that there is all this tax money still being collected but the services are difficult to come by.
Here in Michigan I continue to watch as my healthcare costs increase and quality of services decrease.
There is a saying being used by AARP that I have been using for quite some time. We are only one illness away from financial ruin.
Your situation appears to fit this statement.
Nobody seems to be able to come up with an answer for this healthcare crisis on both sides of the border. One thing that seems to have been lost is the compassion we should have for one another.
Your situation wasn’t the result of something you did to abuse your body, it was an unforseen condition.
There are people out there abusing there bodies by smoking, drinking and taking illegal drugs for recreational purposes. These people can get help. That’s just not right.

I live in Parkhill and do allot of my shopping in Grand Bend and area.
I was pleased to see a news paper in my mail box very interesting. Iam very disappointed in the law enforcement that they don’t take care of the on going problem with wheel chair parking spaces.I find my self being mad most every time i have to park my truck i see countless people with no problem walking to the store. You people should be glad you can walk STOP parking in the wheel chair space.I would stand out in the rain all day just to give out tickets to people who take the wheel chair parking spaces.I find that the world today is to much at our finger tips.Making us lazy. For the businesses that make excuses up why they don’t have wheel chair spaces or ramps should be a shamed of your self.It seems to me that everything has to be about the money.Why does it seem that bad things have to happen to someone before they make changes in there life.We want to make changes in our community but we only want to go half way.The people in wheel chairs have a right to shop any where they want so why are they being left out?

I THINK MS. GARE MADE A REAL CONTRIBUTION TO THE BEACH MEETING, AND WAS A RESPECTED , AND INFORMED LEADER OF THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

ITS REGRETABLE THE CHAMBER WAS SO
UNCOMFORTABLE, AND LACKED ITS OWN CONFIDENCE THAT IT REACTED BY FIRING BARBARA GARE POSTHASTE.
THOSE ACTIONS DIRECTED UPON MS GARE ARE A POOR REFLECTION ON THE GRAND BEND CHAMBER AND ITS PAST EXECUTIVE BOARD, PERHAPS WITH A GREAT DEAL OF WORK THE FEW NEW PERSONS RECENTLY INSTALLED IN THE BOARD OF THE CHAMBER, SOME CREDIBILITY MIGHT BE RE ESTABLISHED
IF THIS NEW EXEC GROUP GETS DOWN TO WORK AND EXECUTES THE REQUIRED EFFORTS TO ENSURE CLARITY IN THE MISSION OF THE CHAMBER AND MAINTAINS GENUINE TRANSPERANCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY ,THIS OF COURSE BY FULFILLING ITS OBLIGATION MANDATATE TO THE COMMUNITY.
